Dear reader, yesterday I took a magical adventure to a land almost forgotten to me. A land of my youth and I ran around care-free. It was a land of snow and ice and night-time fantasy. The sky was clear and the moon and stars free in shine and dance. And then dearest reader in the darkness came a strange, but enchanted boy. He told me to remember the soul that lived in me. So we walked and spoke of many a thing; of life, of love and of loss. We spoke foolishly and yet I tried to be a king. I wanted to protect him and give him wings, so much so that I forgot my own flight and divinity. He warned me not to be deceived by the world I lived in, that love had no boundaries and my innocence still lived in me.
As we spoke I remembered why I ran from the sun into the warm arms of the cold night. As I was and am a creature same as he. We watch and wait and love and taint all about us in a sense of beauty. We sing the song of the river and dance to the howl of the wind. Brothers we were, are and will be. He is a boy of nature; of wood and sky. And I the son of spirit; of fire and light. We are reflections from the pool of souls.
He made the fire and I burned. I called on water and so he drowned. He is the stranger skin, the stranger within. I was the stone, the blood, the flesh and the bone. And in the distance I heard the sirens sing to which he spun a tune;
You are the hole in my head, you are the space in my bed.
You are the silence in between what I thought and what I said.
You are my night time fear
You are the morning when it’s clear
But when it’s over your start
You’re my head
You’re my heart
No light, not light in your bright blue eyes
I never knew the daylight could be so violent
A revelation in the light of day
You can choose what stays and what fades away
And I’d do anything to make you stay.
No light, no light, no light.
Tell me what you want me to say
Through the crowded islands
Crying out at me
In you place there were a thousand other faces
I will disappear in plain sight
Heaven help me
I need to make it right
You are a revelation
You are to get it right
And it’s a conversation I can’t have tonight.
You want a revelation
Some kind of revolution
You are the revelation.
Tell me what you want me to say
But would you leave me
If I told you what I’ve done
And would you leave me
If I told you what I have become
‘Cause it’s so easy
To sing it to the crowd
But it’s so hard, my love
To say it to you, all alone
You are a revelation
Some kind of resolution.
(Florence + the machine. No light, no light).
Kaleb.
